1:16 Sitting room

All pieces except the black bag (Dolls House Emporium) are handmade from scratch (I'm a kit-free zone), the furniture in my mid-80s foray into miniatures, the books and photograph album since I've come back to the mini world in the last couple of years.

Wow, you are really crafty! Both the furniture and the books look great! Do the books have real pages?

Thanks. No these books are for 'show' only (with the exception of the child's book on the second shelf which is available as a printie here
http://www.printmini.com/printables/books/punch.shtml). Their 'insides' are small balsa blocks, scored along the edges with a sharp blade to imitate pages, several were also coloured on the edges with either gold or red as a lot of old books are. This techinique works fine for books that are just to fill shelves. Some of the spines and covers are also from www.print.mini but others were sourced from websites selling antique books.

Norma, I will be so interested when you post your "How To" posts. The bookshelf is amazing and the coffee table looks great. The sofa can only be made by someone very very good with their hands! Love em all!

I was hoping my good looks and charm would be enough but now you want 'how tos' - you are a hard woman to satisfy Sans - LOL

I must confess that actually the sofa is the EASIEST thing in the world to make. I'd post the pattern but there are copyright issues, but what I can tell you is that you can find it in the book "The Dolls' House DIY Book" by Venus and Martin Dodge - their second edition has plans and patterns in 1:16 and 1:12 scale and I highly recommend it for furniture basics.

Babe, your looks and charm are more than I can ever dream of and me, hard to please? Yes, I am so if I tell you you are a dream, then you are probably Fantasy Numero Uno! ;p

By the way, do you know how hard it is to find any books on dollhouses here in Singapore? It's terrible! Unlike Australia where the bookstores, like your looks and charms, aee to die for (although I am not sure if you live in some tiny village or not). BUT be sure I wll try and hunt down this DIY book.

Sans, you have such a wonderful sense of humour :) I should have emphasised you need to look for "The NEW Dolls House DIY Book" - this is the name of the second edition. Here is a link to it at Amazon UK, which is where I bought my copy of the 2nd ed from:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Dolls-House-yourself-Book/dp/0715306162/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259810140&sr=1-1

As to where I live, well I share this fine city of Sydney with about 4 million other fine folks :)
