Painting the salon walls

I always planned that le salon in the French apartment would be off white, not as white as in the mock-up with the furniture, but white none the less, So why then did I find myself reaching for the green and grey paint this afternoon to mix a custom colour that is definitely not white? That's not the first time this has happened, the dining room was going to be grey but instead I found myself painting the walls cream - ok, they did get several coats of grey was here and there in the layering process but they're certainly not grey!

This is just the first of many coats of paint on the salon walls, each one will be ever so slightly different to the one before with some coats sponged on, others in an almost transparent wash- why can't I just follow the sensible regime of 'one undercoats, two top coats', it would make life so much simpler but as soon as the paint brushes come out I have to get all complicated and time consuming!

Who knows what colour it'll be in the end...

I can't wait to see the end result! I also have colour issues. I sit down to do a project with all my paints and end up changing the plan right at the end. But if you're gut says bright orange, resist! Lol.

I'm guessing the colour choice depends on your mood on the day =0) You must be feeling very calm and serene today =0)

Hi Norma
I'm just the same! I have an idea in my mind, but with all the good will in the world, what happens when I sit down to execute that idea can change in an instant! I call it 'going with the flow' LOL
I'm sure it'll be fabulous nonetheless.....
All the best

You have such great rooms in that dollhouse and many colors would look good here. Allways follow your heart, and if it is not right, paint it over ;-)

It always amazes me how much a color can change depending on where we see it... and against which other colors we see it! Sometimes the testing and testing again is the only way to find out how it really will look! I think your room is looking just Lovely! And you can always claim that it is old and has been painted again and again! LOL!

I am of the opinion that these little projects of ours take on a LIFE of their own, and will start "talking back" and telling US what to do!
I can't begin to tell the number of times I have "argued" with a project to "wrestle " it into submission, then later realize that I should have listened to it in the first place. Your little French Salon appears to have A Voice too! Best not to ignore it and just go with the flow! :D
Have a Great Easter, Norma!

Norma, I so relate to the comment about getting complicated once you break out the paint brush. I just cannot stop until I get precisely the effect I want, and it is usually time consuming and complicated. :0)

I love the color effects you've chosen so far. It will be fun to see where you end up!

Best wishes!

Doug
