My 2010 academic year at the University of New South Wales starts tomorrow so over the next few months I'll be spending a great deal of time in this part of the campus. It's a big university, 40,000+ students, this is just a little glimpse of the place.
So ... no more 'goofing off' - but there are lots of things I want to post about the NZ cottage as well as mini stuff so although I might be a bit 'quieter' than I have been recently I certainly won't be absent, and I'll still be reading as many of your posts as I possibly can.
One of my 3rd yr Linguistics classes is 'Semantics and Pragmatics' - wish me luck on that one!! I'm going to need it!!*laughs nervously*

How wonderful! Yes, good luck with it all and I hope you do well in everything. But don't disappear--keep us updated as you can! I tend to disappear periodically as life takes sharp curves and bends but I am hoping to keep at it no matter what!
My 19 year old, Maggie, is in her sophomore year at a private college studying Biology and son, 18 (in two weeks) has just been accepted to Clemson University's Agriculture program. Clemson is a very large school so hoping he'll be able to navigate and do well there!

I think it's absolutely great to go on studying late in life, I mean when you are not 20 years old anymore. Don't get me wrong when I say "late in life". Congratulations and good luck ! I'm sure you will be very busy, therefore we will all be patient concerning your posts.

I checked out the Semantics and Pragmatics, and it seemed quite boring when I read about it, but with the right teacher I think it could be quite interesting!

Well I have managed to survive the first lecture, so that's a good start! No doubt there will be moments when I question what I'm doing there (always happens when a bunch of assignments are due LOL) so I'll keep all your good wishes in mind to spur me on :)
Jody - I will be around, just not as much as the workload increases as the semester goes by (plus I'm thinking of adding another class in which case there will be time only for studying and sleeping!) Best of luck to Maggie and your son!
Marit - no special classes (or any other kind of 'special treatment) or us 'oldies'. Actually there are very very few really mature age students at this university. It's a hard one to get into and I think that puts a lot of more mature people off, however I was determined to do whatever it took to get in as it's just 5 mins walk from my apartment and there was no way I was going across town to go to school!
