Disappointment follows elation...

I was so excited when I found an image of a piece of old French tapestry that I could duplicate to make wallpaper for the French apartment bedroom - such a lovely scene of ladies enjoying a day in the country.

BUT when it's viewed from a distance the ladies disappear and the pale background with the tree in it becomes dominant and it just looks 'blah' at best and 'yuck' at worst. I'm so disappointed.

Enlarging the images so that it's easier to see the detail from a distance is an option I suppose but it'll make them rather out of scale I think. The paper is only held on the walls temporarily so easy to remove but it's such a disappointing result.

Back to the drawing board ... after I dry my tears.

Hi, Norma! How sad! Such beauty and such a disappointment. Hopefully there will soon be something good.
Привет, Нормf! Как грустно! Такая красота и такое разочарование. Надеюсь, в скором времени найдется что-то хорошее.

What a pain in the neck. But I have to agree with you - all I see are the dark uprights of the tree and no figures at all. And I agree, I don't think enlarging the scale will help. Hopefully you will find a replacement version soon.

I wouldn't give up. Do you know anyone who has a program who could tweak the color for you. If you lighten the tree it might work.

What a shame Norma. As Catherine said, try tweaking the colours, maybe increasing the contrast, enhancing some of the colours to make the ladies stand out.

What a Disappointment! I find that I often don't like a wallpaper pattern in the over-all look even when I loved the single image part of it! Something about the repeating pattern always bothers me! I think you should be bold and take the image up to an old tapestry on the wall level.... one grand image, faded and care worn.... printed on cloth it might just look real enough! The other walls could have a small repeating pattern that contrasts. It is such a lovely image, it seems a shame to not use it! I hope you figure out some way to make it work!

Hey Norma- I agree with what Catherine has suggested about tweaking the color of the tapestry to make it read the way that you want it to. I can't do that kind of thing with my old machine but I have seen it done elsewhere so I know that it is possible. The print is a Beauty and it would be a shame if you ended up scraping it.
I realize how images can alter from in person/ to a photo, but don't despair- where there is a woman's WILL, there is also A WAY! :D
